Gout Treatment
The gout can be powerful and painful if not controlled. The most effective gout treatments can stop pain in as little as an hour. Not every remedy works as well though. Pain relief in some cases can take as long as a few days. Lifestyle and eating habits have a lot to do with preventing gout altogether. The most important thing you can do to reduce gout flare-ups is reduce meat and sugar consumption and get on a low-protein weight loss plan. Every physciian you will talk to about the gout will tell you the same thing.
Drink lots of water - up to 8 cups of water a day will help reduce your pain. Uric acid buildup is the primary culprit in gout and drinking water will help flush out excess uric acid and will reduce the swelling and throbbing pain. Another way to reduce inflammation and pain is to make a habit of drinking a couple of glasses of black cherry juice everyday. Next time you go to a supermarket. buy some concentrated and unsweetened black cherry juice. If you are unable to find it at your supermarket, then you may have to go to a health food store or try to get it online. If you\'re suffering from a flareup, try sipping 2 tablespoons of the concentrate itself.
While you\'re at the store, get some blueberries. They\'re high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds and have loads of benefits. Buy strawberries too. Strawberries are great for reducing uric acid buildups. You\'ll find out that it also reduces swelling. Let\'s add fresh cherries to your basket too when they are available. They have the same benefits as strawberries.
Try putting a half a teaspoon of baking soda into all your meals. It takes time but with continued use, you can raise the pH levels of your body fluids to a healthier level. This can raise blood ph levels over time. Apple Cider Vinegar does the same thing. Celery Seeds will help your body flush uric acid from the blood and reduce your inflammation but they require you to drink plenty of water with them. Avoid them if you\'re pregnant or suffer from kidney disease as well.
Eating foods high in potassium will also help the gout. Eat foods like unpeeled baked potatoes, lightly-cooked spinach, raw avocados, bananas, 1% skim milk, or dried prunes. Potassium helps your body eliminate uric acid crystals and you will notice a difference if you make these types of food part of your daily eating regimen.
In order to avoid flareups, you need to avoid eating foods high in protein like steaks and other forms of red meat. Avoid soda drinks, beer, oily fish like herring, sardines, and salmon, and all fried foods. These foods will cause your uric acid levels to rise. For this reason, also avoid taking aspirin. Use pain relievers that contain only ibuprofen.
The suggestions above will get you started on the path to avoiding gout and/or preventing gout attacks before they start. One gout treatment not discussed yet in this article is called flamosil - a curcumin extract-based gout treatment that has been getting rave reviews from users.
